Instead of asking "Do I want this?", think:

Do I really need this?

Will this add value to my daily life?

About Microplastics

Did you know Malaysia has the highest microplastic pollution globally?

Malaysians consume around 502mg of microplastics daily, equivalent to swallowing 3 credit cards* worth of plastic every per month.

*A credit card weighs around 5,000mg

Malaysia is among the worst offenders for plastic pollution due to widespread mismanagement of waste. The level of microplastic exposure results in serious environmental and long-term health risks.

What is microplastic?

Microplastics are tiny plastic particles smaller than 5mm coming from the breakdown of larger plastic items. They come from improper plastic waste management, personal care products, and industrial emissions.

How are we exposed to microplastics?

Microplastics are found in seafood, water, and through the air due to mismanagement of waste causing pollution. such as disposing waste to marine waters, burning waste which releases toxic  plastics

Microplastic exposure and health risks

Microplastics may release harmful chemicals that cause gut inflammation, hormonal disorders, digestive issues and chronic diseases. These chemicals are linked to cancers and fertility problems.

What you can do to reduce exposure

Practice mindful consumption. By reducing single-use plastic use, minimise waste and improving waste management, individuals and local groups can help safeguard the environment and protect our bodies from daily microplastic exposure, minimise health risks from environmental pollution
